It's true, I couldn't care less. I might be the only Padres fan that feels this way but I'm glad I have thoughts of my own. I've never really like him since we played him in the outfield. He has made up for the mess of an outfielder we made him but I still don't get the warm and fuzzies when I think of him. If he continues to play the way he did last season maybe, just maybe, my thoughts will change. Of course I was happy for him for the awards he won this past year but it's only natural to feel that way when someone on your team finally gets recognition. It by no means changes my personal opinion about Chase. Hell, I would have been happy if the recognition was forVolquez... okay, maybe not Volquez.
I, personally, thought he let his awards go to his head hence the amount he was asking for vs the amount the Padres saw fit to offer and ended up paying. There is no doubt that Chase's performance last season was beneficial and was the one bright spot on an otherwise underwhelming and injury prone team but I wasn't going to be heartbroken if we traded him mid-season. In fact, I'm still waiting for that to happen. I hope to God we don't end up trying to make him the face of the franchise because seriously, we need someone with a ridiculous amount of talent and personality to go with it. Then again, we do like to make someone the face of the franchise and then immediately trade them so, maybe he should be.

I'm Back, Bitches
It's almost that time again, baseball season is right around the corner. Since pitchers and catchers report in two short weeks I figured maybe I should come out of my off-season hibernation and grace you with my presence.
In all honesty, I'm not anywhere near excited for the off-season to come to an end. Now, if the Padres actually did something and didn't have quite the boring off-season, I'd feel different but they haven't so I don't. It has been so boring that I haven't even cared to see what little they have actually done. The only thing I even know about, that has happened, is Chase asking way more than the Padres offered and that we need pitching. Hey, here's an idea, let's go back in time and not trade our best pitcher for a catcher that took steroids and is consequently suspended for 50 games forcing us to depend on Hundley, a first baseman that refuses to let me see him do anything good and the other two we got that I forgot about because they probably underwhelmed me. Clearly, I'm still bitter and will be until further notice. Yes, I understand we had holes to fill but I don't care, I'm pretty good at holding grudges. Besides, I'm sure we had people in the minors we could have prematurely brought up to fill those holes. It's not like we were going to be a contending team last season anyway. Oh and let's not get me started on the whole moving in the fences bullshit. It's called catering to your ballpark. Use what you can to get the players you need that will murder Petco's dimensions even if it means we have to wait for them to come up in the farm system. I'd rather us build the team to fit the park than redesign a gorgeous stadium. I mean shit, we are Padres fans, if we haven't abandoned the team yet, it's not going to happen.
Oops, I got started. Since I've already gotten into this altering the dimensions nonsense, I might as well finish. Based off the pictures Tom Garfinkle has tweeted of the progress and projected outcome, the only thing that I can tolerate is putting the visitors bullpen above ours. Even then, that takes away some of the easy access creeping ability if you had seats in that section... kidding, kinda. I hate that the pictures of the projected outcome show that my prime BP spot isn't going to be so prime anymore. I also hate that they aren't putting in more seats where the wall won't be. That makes me think of Dodger Stadium and how ugly that section of outfield looks. I get that the Padres can't sellout what seats they do have to begin with so adding more isn't the smartest idea but at least it will be aesthetically pleasing and give fans better chances of getting a home run ball... from the other team.
As much as I'm not excited for the off-season to be over, I am looking forward to the season starting. Not necessarily for the Padres but for baseball in general. I swear, I'm going to have some form of a breakdown if I don't get any soon. I do miss my boys and cheering like I know players personally, though. I'm hoping that despite the lack of excitement this off-season that the Padres pull something out of their asses and are magically in a position to make big moves during the season that will solidify their place in a playoff race. I dream big, I know.

The Postseason Wrap Up: I'm a Slave to Baseball
It's been a short lifetime since I've written a post and now that baseball is officially over, it will probably be even longer before I write another new post. In other words, savor this one.
The baseball gods clearly wanted me to be miserable during the duration of the postseason. Not only did every team I want to advance get eliminated in the division series' but my "if there has to be a winner" teams in the championship series also got eliminated. Leaving me with two teams in my divisions that I absolutely can not cheer for, the Giants and the Tigers. Now as if that wasn't bad enough the Giants had to go ahead and sweep after being on the verge of elimination in the previous two series.
My hatred for the Giants brought back painful memories while watching them eliminate the Reds in game 5 of the DS. I had a bad feeling going into that game that they were going to pull out the win. I treated that game as if it were game 162 all over again. I was heart broken for the Reds and utterly shocked that the Giants came back from the brink of death to win the last three games of the series. At that point I told myself I wasn't going to watch any more of the postseason because there weren't any teams left that I could stand to cheer for. Sadly, I'm a slave to baseball and watched probably 95% of the games this postseason.
As we all know, the Giants swept to win the World Series and if you are on twitter you were probably bombarded with annoying tweets from fans and not from Giants fans. Granted the Giants fans were probably already in a drunken stupor by the time the game went into extras and were probably beyond shitfaced by the time they won. I was prepared for the obnoxious Giants are World Series Champs again tweets but what I wasn't prepared for was the complete bittery assholeness of Padres fans. Yes, I was also pissed that the Giants won but I was smart enough to turn the game off after the final out was recorded. I saw no need to suffer through a postgame show. Clearly some of my timeline was not smart enough to do the same or too drunk to do so as I saw countless bitter posts. I could not believe how bitter fans were being. You would think that it was 2010 again with the way they were acting. It's not like the Padres were even close to being in the playoffs this year yet that fact seemed lost on a lot of people that night.
I know it sounds like I'm bashing my fellow Padres fans and in a way I am but the way they were acting was uncalled for. There were tweets of not going to Padres Giants games because they didn't want to be around the bandwagon Giants fans even more so now. I'm ashamed that they would think such a thing. You can't let obnoxious fans determine whether or not you're going to go to a game. Though, I do that with Dodgers games but that's more of a safety concern than anything. If you've forgotten, I'm quite the little girl with quite a loud mouth and that's probably not the best thing to have when you're near Dodgers fans. All in all, it's baseball and if someone is going to offer me tickets to go to a Padres Dodgers game, I won't turn them down or if I already have them, I won't give them away. Baseball is too precious to me to let other fans determine whether or not I go to the game. If anything, I'd want to go to Giants Padres games more to show my support for the Padres and enjoy those glorious moments when we beat the Giants. Them winning a second World Series in three years just makes our wins over them that much more amazing.
In other baseball related news, the Padres are moving in the fences to my dismay and the dismay of others. I still stand by the fact that the Padres are going to get blown out more with the changes than not. I'm scared to see how it's going to affect the pitchers especially ones that are perfect for, I guess now we can call it, old Petco. It worries me that our pitchers are going to try to make up for the space they've lost and alter their mechanics and do more harm than good. Also in other baseball related news, Chase Headley won his first Gold Glove tonight. I was beyond shocked to see that he was even nominated and even more shocked when he won. With the announcement of his name I immediately yelled "HOLY CRAP!!" had I been alone in the house it would have been a much more colorful expression. Chase marks the first Padres third baseman to win since my all time favorite Padre, Caminiti. So thank you, Padres, for not trading Chase. I've forgotten what it's like to have a Gold Glove winner. Also, I have to ask, how the hell did the Reds Brandon Phillips not win a Gold Glove?! I was constantly amazed by his defensive abilities in the games I watched and even highlights on ESPN.
Edit: It's hilarious seeing posts on twitter of fans bitching that their teams player(s) got snubbed for the Gold Glove and them blaming it on the lack of publicity because ya know, the Padres TOTALLY get publicity.

162
Two years ago game 162 about put me into tears. The Padres were facing the Giants in San Fran and Latos was on the mound. The entire season came down to that final game. I remember literally sitting on the edge of my seat with my heart racing and barely breathing. Seriously, I had to remind myself to breath, it was no long and autonomic response. I might as well have been a player, I honestly think I might have been more stressed about the game than the players were. I don't know how they were able to play that game but a big high five for doing so. As we all know, we lost that game because in true Padres fashion, we couldn't score runs for Latos. Like I said, it about put me into tears. The only reason I didn't cry was because I was in such shock that we had just lost and our playoffs hopes were crushed, just like that. I couldn't get over the fact that that just happened and clearly, I'm still not over it. With that being said, in a way, I'm glad that this game 162 is a million times less stressful but I look forward to the Padres being that close to the playoffs once again. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for 2013 but I'm making sure to remember to breathe this time if/when it happens.
Maybin made an AMAZING catch to rob Braun of a hit in the first inning. Did I mention it was amazing?? The Brewers still manage to take the lead despite that amazing catch Cam made. Shit, somehow the Brewers scored two runs. I think I only saw one. Oops. It's okay, because the Padres are up in their half of the third and have a man on for Chase. They walked him and whatever, he's still leading the RBI race so the Brewers can suck it. The Brewers drive in their third run in the third inning to make it 3-0 Brewers. Not to worry, a little birdy... twitter... told me the Padres will comeback. The Brewers plate three more to make it 6-0 but like I said, a little birdy told me we will comeback.
Deno hits a home run in the fourth to start that comeback I was telling you about. Woot, woot. Alexi scores on, I don't even know what because I was getting sidetracked looking up fabric markers. Apparently he scored on Cabrera's steal of second when the ball went into center. Whatever, I'll allow it since we are chipping away at that 6-2 Brewers lead. Chase just crushed a two run home run to put his RBI count to 116 and the score to 6-4. AMAZING, Chase Headley is AMAZING!! Hold up, the umps are reviewing it?! UGH, the umps determined it was a foul ball. PISS!! Chase goes back to 114 RBI and the Padres go back to losing 6-2. UGH. Okay, so Chase doubles and goes to 115 RBI and the score goes to 6-3. Not a two run shot but I'll take the RBI.
In the top of the sixth inning Deno singles and Cam drives him in on a two run home run. Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Cam hit a home run to start the season?? The Brewers lead is cut to one on that two run shot. Thank God, as I act like I didn't already know this happened, or the final score of the game. Chase triples in the tying run and adds to his RBI lead. Muahahahahaha. On a play at the plate, in which Chase came in on an awkward looking standing slide, the Padres take the 7-6 lead and hold onto that lead to win. SUCK IT!!
Chase ends the season on back to back player of the months AND is the NL RBI leader. I just have this to say, suck it, Braun. Oh yeah, and herpes is for life bro. Ahahahaha. Sadly though, the Padres season has come to an end and I'm thoroughly pissed that I have to wait until the weekend for more baseball. I don't even know what I will do once the season is officially over for everyone. I know some people are wondering what I'm going to write about in the off season, if I write at all and honestly, I don't know. I might end up not writing at all. After the majority of the season, this stopped being fun. I may write a random post here and there about off season news or a "what I'm doing without baseball" post but I'm thinking this might be quiet for some time. Thanks bunches for all that have read and shared these posts and put up with my nonsense. Love, Peace and Baseball to all and to all a goodnight. XOXO.

At Least Braun Didn't Do Anything...
Chase does it again. No, he didn't take back the RBI lead because he's still in possession of that as of the beginning of this game and post. What he did do again is win NL player of the month. We seriously need to do something about him. It is completely unacceptable that we have all that talent and have yet to do anything about it. I don't want to see him traded but I feel like that is exactly what's going to happen.
Nothing note worthy has happened in the first two innings, then the Brewers half of the third happened. We loaded the bases for them and now it's only a matter of time before this game gets ugly. Before I could finish typing that sentence, the Brewers murder a grand slam and take the 4-0 lead. MOTHERFUCKER.
Padres get one back in the fourth thanks to a Venable single. As I tweet how boring this game is, the Padres drive in Chase to make it 4-2 and have runners on first and second. Maybe they saw my complaint and are trying to do something about it. The Padres have the bases loaded and Deno up with one out, some odd throwing got the out at home. The bases remain loaded for Yasmani. Please do work!! Yasmani drives in a run and it's now 4-3 Padres and the bases are STILL loaded. The Brewers saved them plenty of runs on a fantastic play at third. With two outs and the bases still loaded, like I said, we put the bat in Quentin's hands. Do not fail me, Quentin... he failed me. Womp, womp.
Ugh in the bottom half of the 7th, the Brewers load the bases on a HBP. Fabulous. In what can only be described as a gift from the baseball Gods, the Brewers left the bases loaded thanks to a strikeout of Braun. You can't tell but I'm sticking my tongue out and making farting noises at the game right now. This might be one of the most boring games this season which saddens me given that we have one game left after tonight AND I'll be in class for it. The Padres have a two out rally going on and Parrino could have tied up the game had he not tripped over air while rounding second. It was embarrassing to say the least. He should have tucked and rolled, might make it look a lot cooler. Booooooooooo!! The Padres lost on literally one swing. UGH. Please tell me we can end the season with a win tomorrow.

Last Series of the Season, How Depressing
The title says it all. No matter the outcome of this game, it's going to be depressing. At least it should be a good series with that whole RBI leader thing happening. So the Brewers take the early lead but thankfully Braun didn't drive in the run. He was the run that came around to score but still. Holy fuck, Clayton was tired of losing so he took matters into his own hands and tied the game with his first career home run in the third inning. Following Clayton's home run, the Padres load the bases and at the moment stand at a 2-0 count on Alonso with two outs, don't fuck this up Alonso. He fucked it up. Oh well, it's a new game now.
The Brewers take back the lead in the fourth with a home run of their own. Once again, thank God it wasn't Braun. UGH fifth inning two run home run for Weeks. Clayton, stop it!! Somehow the Padres scored in the sixth but I was a little busy trying to draw a flow chart. I finished the damn flow chart in time to see the Brewers hit ANOTHER home run. STOP IT!! The Brewers now lead 5-2. Grandal drives in Cabrera in the seventh to make it 5-3 and I'm barely awake to care. Plus, I just read one of the dumbest things I think I have ever read and am positive I lost brain cells doing so. I want to apologize to my brain for doing that and I ask that you please allow those brain cells to return. I promise I won't do anything like that ever again. Sadly like my brain cells, the Padres didn't come back. Brewers win 5-3.

Last Home Game of the Season and I'm Left With Sad Puppy Dog Eyes
Welp, it's the last home game of the season and we are forced to sit through Volquez vs Lincecum. Two pitchers who favor the walks this season, I'm so not okay with that and it makes me glad I'm not at the game today. Holy shit, the Giants already scored and the game hasn't even been on for 10 minutes. What the hell?! I guess I miss these things when I'm busy tweeting about the attractiveness that is Philip Rivers. Sorry but that is an important topic. UGH Volquez sucks ass and walked Lincecum to load the bases. Seriously?! I'm not going to miss him this off season. Thank God, Volquez managed to strike out the next batter and save us from going ape shit on him.
Cabrera is stealing bases like it's nobody's business today. Logan just murdered a two run home run to give the Padres the 2-1 lead in the third. Thank you!! Now let's not fuck up the lead. Volquez, I'm talking to you. Holy shit, I thought for sure we just blew the lead but by the grace of the baseball gods, we got the run out at home. UGH Volquez just walked Lincecum again to load the bases. STOP IT!! Hey Padres, I could walk Lincecum for A LOT cheaper, just saying. Okay, I can walk any player for A LOT cheaper than Volquez. PS. Fuck you very much, Volquez for tying the game on a bases loaded walk. A swinging bunt luckily went our way to end the inning and I'm feeling ridiculously bipolar right now. Can the baseball gods stop fucking with my emotions today?? Either keep us in your good graces or don't, I can't handle the back and forth today.
After Yasmani gets the final out like a G in the Giants half of the inning, he kicks off the Padres half with a solo shot to give us our lead back. I love you, Yasmani. The Padres let Volquez come back into the game, throw another ball then pull him. What the hell was the point of that?! You knew he was hurt which is why you had the assistant trainer come out to begin with during the last inning. Don't be dumb. YES!! 4-2 Padres in the fifth on Cabrera steals and a throwing error. Like I said Cabrera is stealing bases today like it's nobody's business. His stealing ability is the only reason I don't completely hate him. Jesus, Chase starts off the sixth with a home run of his own and takes over the NL RBI lead again and make it a 5-2 game. Clearly, these boys want to put on a show for the final home game.
The Padres put Luke in for the eighth and after a walk and a single they pull him... for Thatcher. Seriously?! You're putting Thatcher in?! God help us. Hey Thatcher, you're supposed to prevent runs from scoring. 5-3 Padres. Umm I think it's time to pull Thatcher given that the Giants just loaded the bases and still have no outs. So Black pulls Thatcher AFTER he allows another run to score, 5-4 Padres. Great move, Buddy, great move. So it's clear that everyone except the pitching staff is wanting to put on a show for the final home game. Holy shit, I about had a heart attack with Pablo's at bat. That man scares me no matter what but the fact that there were two on with two outs, holy fuck. Thank God Thayer was able to get him out and my little heart can relax again. Well at least until the top of the ninth. Logan came close to hitting his second home run of the day and that was the most excitement for the Padres half of the eighth.
Only one more (half) inning until baseball in San Diego is officially over for the season. This makes me extremely sad but luckily I have a few more days before the season ends. It's up to Huston to close out this game and I'm still concerned about his balls. Aww fuck, Nady just homered off Street to tie the game at five. I'm taking that as payback for Cam robbing him yesterday. Shit!! Street just gave up another home run, this time of the two run variety and now it's 7-5 Giants. Like I stated earlier, it's clear everyone except the pitching staff is wanting to put on a show... well a positive show. Unfortunately the Giants won this one 7-5 and I'm left sitting here with sad puppy dog eyes. Thank you Padres for making me waste a beautiful San Diego day. Can we pull out some wins in Milwaukee?? Please??

Please??
