I'm Back, Bitches

It's almost that time again, baseball season is right around the corner. Since pitchers and catchers report in two short weeks I figured maybe I should come out of my off-season hibernation and grace you with my presence.

In all honesty, I'm not anywhere near excited for the off-season to come to an end. Now, if the Padres actually did something and didn't have quite the boring off-season, I'd feel different but they haven't so I don't. It has been so boring that I haven't even cared to see what little they have actually done. The only thing I even know about, that has happened, is Chase asking way more than the Padres offered and that we need pitching. Hey, here's an idea, let's go back in time and not trade our best pitcher for a catcher that took steroids and is consequently suspended for 50 games forcing us to depend on Hundley, a first baseman that refuses to let me see him do anything good and the other two we got that I forgot about because they probably underwhelmed me. Clearly, I'm still bitter and will be until further notice. Yes, I understand we had holes to fill but I don't care, I'm pretty good at holding grudges. Besides, I'm sure we had people in the minors we could have prematurely brought up to fill those holes. It's not like we were going to be a contending team last season anyway. Oh and let's not get me started on the whole moving in the fences bullshit. It's called catering to your ballpark. Use what you can to get the players you need that will murder Petco's dimensions even if it means we have to wait for them to come up in the farm system. I'd rather us build the team to fit the park than redesign a gorgeous stadium. I mean shit, we are Padres fans, if we haven't abandoned the team yet, it's not going to happen.

Oops, I got started. Since I've already gotten into this altering the dimensions nonsense, I might as well finish. Based off the pictures Tom Garfinkle has tweeted of the progress and projected outcome, the only thing that I can tolerate is putting the visitors bullpen above ours. Even then, that takes away some of the easy access creeping ability if you had seats in that section... kidding, kinda. I hate that the pictures of the projected outcome show that my prime BP spot isn't going to be so prime anymore. I also hate that they aren't putting in more seats where the wall won't be. That makes me think of Dodger Stadium and how ugly that section of outfield looks. I get that the Padres can't sellout what seats they do have to begin with so adding more isn't the smartest idea but at least it will be aesthetically pleasing and give fans better chances of getting a home run ball... from the other team.

As much as I'm not excited for the off-season to be over, I am looking forward to the season starting. Not necessarily for the Padres but for baseball in general. I swear, I'm going to have some form of a breakdown if I don't get any soon. I do miss my boys and cheering like I know players personally, though. I'm hoping that despite the lack of excitement this off-season that the Padres pull something out of their asses and are magically in a position to make big moves during the season that will solidify their place in a playoff race. I dream big, I know.
