Hello, Nostalgia

There's just something about watching videos of the '98 season and seeing the players be driven onto the field that made me need to write a post... and want to cry. Definitely, wanted to cry. It's a good thing I wasn't at the game or I definitely would have. It was so amazing to see some of the old team like Vaughn, Gwynn (obviously), Finley, Davis, Ashby, etc. but it is always heartbreaking not seeing Cami. It's no secret that Caminiti is my all time favorite player so seeing the videos with him and even hearing other players talk about him definitely made me tear up. Cami has to simultaneously be the best and worst athlete to look up to. AMAZING player, steroids and drug addict. If that doesn't scream best and worst, I don't know what does. Along with members of that fantabulous team, we even have Proctor broadcasting the game tonight. I might not remember listening to him when I was 10 but I'm loving every second of this. Can he do this for us forever?!

What I do remember is getting picked up from school and being so excited to see that my parents had bought me a NL championship shirt, wait 2 shirts. Neither of which fit me then or now but man, you would think I had died and gone to heaven with how excited I was. It just hit me that I'm basically 10 again tonight. It's a friday night, my mom is working late and me and dad had McDonalds for dinner. The only thing missing, gymnastics practice. Hello, nostalgia.

Three innings into the game and the Padres haven't shown up yet... six innings into the game and the Padres haven't shown up yet. I'm going to say that we are extremely nervous to be playing in front of such a fantastic team. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. I'm also convinced that the broadcast is intentionally trying to make me cry. No more Cami stories!! I can't take it but I love them but I can't, I just can't.

Six innings and FINALLY we show up. Logan with a two run single to give the Padres the 2-1 lead. THANK YOU. That would be all we need as the Padres go on to win 2-1 with a Stults complete game. Despite the low score and the basically nothing happening for most the game, this has to be one of my favorite games of the season.

Happy 15th anniversary, '98 NL Championship team!!
