Victoria's Secret, Making Baseball Girly and Inaccurate

Since this is a Padres blog from a female perspective I felt the need to call out Victoria's Secret in a way. Don't get me wrong I love Victoria's Secret, as any girl does, but when I was browsing their site the other day I saw these Padres underwear and thought 'Am I really that big of a baseball nerd that this pisses me off?!' Answer, yes. I love that VS is trying to make cute baseball apparel for  female fans but can you please be accurate?? Any girl that is a true baseball fan knows that the NL doesn't use a DH unless its interleague. So the idea of a 'designated kisser' just pisses me off and makes me feel like if I owned these, they should only be allowed to be worn during interleague play. If they want to stick to cute baseball clothing continue making shirts like they did a couple years ago saying "I only kiss Padres fans". At least that appeals to the girls who have issues with guys being a fan of rival teams. I feel like these underwear and some others they had only apply to the girls that watch baseball solely for the baseball pants, particularly the "Meet Me In The Dugout" and "Caught Looking" ones. I will give credit that the "Caught Looking" ones are cute because it can be very difficult to not find yourself staring at the baseball pants but at least I actually know what is going on in the game and for the most part can name every player on our team and where they came from. However, to me, the "Meet Me In The Dugout" ones scream cleat chaser. Also the fact that VS no longer puts the year in which the team was established on their clothing pisses me off. I understand that '86 is apparently the year they had the most success but I would rather not look like an idiot wearing Padres stuff with an '86 on it instead of a '69. If you must put an '86 on it can you at least not make it too visible?? Maybe put it on the back with the dog?? With all this being said, I do own a couple things from their MLB collection and I love them because they are cute and simple and for the most part accurate.

  1. Yeah, I'm a guy but I still agree with where you're coming from. I will say, though, I really dislike Padres gear with the year of origin on it. I once got a Padres shirt for Christmas with "69" featured on it prominently and I never wore it just because I knew 95% of people who saw it would think I was trying to be crass.

    1. I totally understand about the "69" thing, luckily for me the pants that I have say "1969" on it so it's not as bad. Then again I find it hilarious when people take it the wrong way just because I know I would do the same thing. At least when it comes to Padres stuff I know its the year they were established and that someone isn't trying to be inappropriate.
